Just 2 km west of Goleen Village on Rock Island, linked by a causeway to the mainland Crookhaven road. An end of terrace, two bedroom duplex apartment in the restored historic Coastguard building that stands sentinel to Crookhaven Bay. It has lovely sea views. It is the easternmost apartment of the larger Coastguard building and there is private parking and a communal garden. Sleeps 4/5.
Bedrooms: Two bedrooms, 1 spacious double and 1 snug twin. Airy bathroom with bath and overbath hand shower on the top floor.
Living: Open plan dining and kitchen. Separate small utility room with washer drier. New appliances, el. Oven, halogen hob, Toaster, separate grill (broiler). El. Kettle Coffee maker. Small open fireplace, electric convection/night store in all rooms. Two sofas (one converts to a single bed). Well equipped with ware and utensils. Small tv with local and main uk stations and cd player. Under counter fridge with small ice compartment. Iron and hairdryer.
Garden: small patio area with furniture overlooking the entrance to Crookhaven Harbour. Communal grassy area to the west of the property and the rest of the island to explore.
Parking: The house is down a longish drive, in a natural setting. There is parking for a couple of cars.
Views: Triple aspect - to the north, south and east, across to Crookhaven, the inlet and the Napoleonic watchtower. Eastwards toward Goleen and the old lobster ponds. All year there is some marine activity to engage the eye.
Hazards / Drawbacks: Nothing immediate although care should be taken when exploring or using the foreshore.
Pets: No.
General Comments: Modern accommodation in an historic setting. Has proven to be extremely popular as it is a little different from the normal self catering properties. The views are lovely and it is with easy drive of Goleen for the shops and services or to Crookhaven for crab sandwiches and craic. |
