1.5 miles from Schull Town on the most sought after road in the town. The property is on the seaside with two small stony and rocky beaches. A ‘gut’ cuts in on one side of the property creating a swimming pool at high tide. The rocks are perfect for a bit of fishing when the mackerel are running. With private sea access it is a rarity in the letting market. Sleeps 5.
Bedrooms: There is a double bedded room with wonderful sea view, and a twin room with sea view each with a wash hand basin plus a third small single room facing the approach drive. Hairdryer.
Bathrooms: There is a recently tiled bathroom with an over bath power shower, wc. A second wc and whb.
Kitchen/Sitting/Dining: The kitchen,dining and sitting room area is open plan and split level. At entrance level, the kitchen and dining area. There is a simple custom built cottage style kitchen gas hob, el.oven, microwave, small fridge with ice tray facility, juicer, blender and cafetiere. Plenty of ware and utensils. Behind the single bedroom is a small utility room with a washing machine, drier,freezer, iron and board. A washing line is strung up under the gable at one end of the house. The floor is slate with steps leading down to the carpeted sitting area. There is a large inglenook fire place (which works) and oil central heating. Free to air TV with UK and other channels, (No Irish terrestrial stations) NB. A PERSONAL SKY CARD CAN BE USED. A sofa and easy chairs.
Garden: Gated entrance and long drive. The house is in an entirely natural setting, to one side is a small paved area and some deck chairs. Small paths lead through the bracken and grass to the sea side. The remaining lands are natural hillside and rock. To the front of the house is a large grassed area and pine shelter belt.
Parking: The house is down a longish drive, in a natural setting. There is parking for a couple of cars.
View: The view is spectacular. Almost water level, looking out towards the South east and the entire harbour mouth, Long Island and Long Island Sound and across to Cape Clear.
Hazards / Drawbacks: The house is a tad eccentric but the position makes it very popular.
Pets: You are welcome to have a pet at the house but please ask.
General Comments: The location is unique and spectacular, otters play at the waters edge, dolphin pods swim by and every boat entering the harbour passes the window. A sunken Spanish Galleon lies in the water below the property. |
